第1章 青蛙王子 原名《青蛙國(guó)王》 在許愿還奏效的古時(shí)候，有一位國(guó)王，他的女兒們貌美如花。但是他*小的女兒更是美麗，就連太陽(yáng)每次照在她的臉上，都為她的美貌而驚嘆。 國(guó)王的城堡附近有一片黑森林，森林里的一棵老菩提樹下有一口井。天氣暖和的話，小公主會(huì)過(guò)來(lái)，坐在涼爽的井邊。她覺(jué)得無(wú)聊的時(shí)候就會(huì)拿出一個(gè)金球，拋起來(lái)，又接住。這是她*喜歡的玩具。 有一次，公主的金球沒(méi)有落到她伸出的小手上，而是掉到地上，直接滾到了水里。 公主眼睜睜地看著球就這么不見(jiàn)了。井深不見(jiàn)底。她哭起來(lái)，聲音越來(lái)越大。 “你為什么傷心，公主？”有人跟她說(shuō)話，“你哭得這么傷心，就算是一塊石頭都會(huì)同情你的！惫鬓D(zhuǎn)過(guò)頭，朝聲音傳出的方向看去，她看到了一只青蛙。這青蛙正把他那丑陋的大腦袋伸出水面。 “啊，游泳老手，是你？”公主說(shuō)，“我正為我掉到井里的金球哭鼻子呢！ “好啦，別哭啦，我可以幫助你。但是如果我把你的玩具撈上來(lái)，你愿意給我什么呢？” “隨便你想要什么都行，親愛(ài)的青蛙！惫髡f(shuō)，“我的衣服、我的珍珠和寶石，哪怕是我頭上戴著的金冠！ “我才不在乎你的衣服、你的珍珠和寶石呢，我也不要你的金冠。如果你愿意愛(ài)我，讓我做你的伴兒，吃飯的時(shí)候坐在你的旁邊，用你的小金盤子吃飯，喝你小杯子里的水，睡在你的小床上，那我就下去把你的金球撈上來(lái)！ “哦，好的，”公主說(shuō)道，“我答應(yīng)你所有的要求。”然而她心里想的卻是：這青蛙盡說(shuō)蠢話！他每天就只和其他青蛙一起待在水里呱呱叫，他才不可能做人類的伴兒呢！ 青蛙得到了公主的承諾，頭往水里一鉆，潛了下去。一會(huì)兒，他就叼著金球游了上來(lái)。他把金球扔在地上。公主又看到了她的玩具，高興極了。她撿起金球，撒腿就跑。 “等等！”青蛙說(shuō)，“帶上我，我可跑不動(dòng)！惫鞲静宦，而是直接跑回了家。很快她就忘記了這只可憐的青蛙，青蛙只好又回到井里。 第二天，公主和國(guó)王還有貴族們坐在桌旁。她正吃著她的小金盤子里的東西。這時(shí)候，有什么東西噼啪噼啪地沿著大理石臺(tái)階爬上來(lái)。它爬到*上面，一邊敲門，一邊大叫：“公主，小公主，請(qǐng)你給我開開門！ 公主跑過(guò)去，想看看門外到底是誰(shuí)。她剛打開門，就看到青蛙坐在那兒。她砰的一聲關(guān)上門，回到餐桌旁，心里卻怕得要命。 “我的孩子，你害怕什么呀？”國(guó)王問(wèn)道，“門口有個(gè)巨人要抓你嗎？” “不是巨人，是一只討厭的青蛙！惫骰卮鸬。 “青蛙想干什么呢？” “親愛(ài)的爸爸，昨天我在森林里的井邊玩，我的金球掉到了井里，是青蛙幫我撈上來(lái)的。他非要我發(fā)誓，讓他做我的伴兒。我根本就沒(méi)想到他能從水里面爬出來(lái)！ 青蛙又一次敲門了，他叫道： 公主，小公主！ 請(qǐng)你給我開開門！ 你可曾記得昨日清涼的井水邊 你許下的諾言？ 公主，小公主！ 請(qǐng)你給我開開門！ 這時(shí)候國(guó)王說(shuō)話了：“你得兌現(xiàn)自己許下的諾言。去讓他進(jìn)來(lái)。” 公主打開了門。青蛙跳進(jìn)來(lái)，跟著公主來(lái)到她的椅子邊。他坐在那兒，說(shuō)：“把我抱到你旁邊！”公主磨磨蹭蹭，直到國(guó)王命令她這么做。青蛙一坐上椅子，就又想坐到桌子上去。 坐上桌子之后，他又說(shuō)：“把你的小金盤子往我這邊靠一點(diǎn)，這樣我們就可以一起吃啦。”公主照做了，可是很明顯，她一點(diǎn)也不心甘情愿。這一頓飯，青蛙吃得非常開心，可是公主吃得幾乎每一口都哽在喉頭。 終于，青蛙說(shuō)：“我吃飽了，F(xiàn)在我累了。帶我到你的小房間里去，把你那絲綢小床鋪好。我們一起睡覺(jué)吧。” 公主哭起來(lái)。她很害怕這只冰涼的青蛙，他還要睡在自己漂亮又干凈的小床上！但是國(guó)王不高興了。 “你遇到困難時(shí)他幫了你，你不該事后看不起他！眹(guó)王說(shuō)。 于是她用兩根手指頭捏著青蛙，提他上了樓，然后把他扔在房間的角落里？伤洗菜X(jué)時(shí)，青蛙也爬上來(lái)。 青蛙說(shuō)：“我累了，我想像你那樣睡覺(jué)。帶我上床，不然我就告訴你爸爸！ 公主氣急敗壞。她用盡全身力氣把青蛙往墻上扔過(guò)去！艾F(xiàn)在，你可以閉嘴了，你這只可惡的青蛙！”她說(shuō)。 可是，落到地上的并不是青蛙，而是一個(gè)王子，長(zhǎng)著一雙溫柔又漂亮的眼睛。他告訴公主，原來(lái)他被惡巫婆施了詛咒，除了公主，沒(méi)有人可以拯救他，F(xiàn)在，遵照她父親的愿望，他是她親愛(ài)的伴侶和丈夫了。明天他們將一同前往他的王國(guó)。然后他們就睡著了。 ...... CHAPTER 1 The Frog Prince Originally Named The Frog King In olden times when wishing still worked, there lived a king whose daughters were all beautiful. But the youngest was so beautiful the sun itself was astonished whenever it shone on her face. Close by the king’s castle lay a great dark forest. Under an old lime tree in the forest was a well. When the day was very warm, the king’s youngest child went and sat down by the side of the cool fountain. And when she was bored, she took a golden ball and threw it up high and caught it. This ball was her favorite plaything. On one occasion, the princess’s golden ball did not fall into the little hand she was holding up for it. It landed on the ground beyond and rolled straight into the water. The king’s daughter followed it with her eyes, but the ball vanished. The well was deep, so deep that the bottom could not be seen. She began to cry, and then she cried louder and louder. “What ails you, king’s daughter?” someone said to her. “You weep so that even a stone would show pity.” The princess looked round to the side from where the voice came and saw a frog. He stretched forth his big, ugly head from the water. “Ah! Old water splasher, is it you?” the princess said. “I am weeping for my golden ball, which has fallen into the well.” “Be quiet and do not weep. I can help you. But what will you give me, if I bring your plaything up again?” “Whatever you will have, dear frog,” the princess said. “My clothes, my pearls and jewels, or even the golden crown I am wearing.” “I do not care for your clothes, your pearls and jewels, nor for your golden crown. If you will love me and let me be your companion, and sit by you at your table, and eat off your little golden plate, and drink from your little cup, and sleep in your little bed, I will go down below and bring your golden ball up again.” “Oh, yes,” the princess said. “I promise you all you wish.” But she thought, How the silly frog does talk! All he does is sit in the water with the other frogs and croak. He can be no companion to any human being! When the frog had received the promise, he put his head in the water and sank down. In a short while he came swimming up again with the ball in his mouth. He threw it on the ground. The king’s daughter was delighted to see her plaything once more. She picked it up and ran away with it. “Wait, wait!” said the frog. “Take me with you. I can’t run.” She did not listen, but ran home. She soon forgot the poor frog, who was forced to go back into his well. The next day, the princess was seated at the table with the king and the nobles. She was eating from her little golden plate. Something came creeping splish splash, splish splash, up the marble staircase. When it got up to the top, it knocked at the door. It cried, “Princess, youngest Princess, open the door for me.” The princess ran to see who was outside. When she opened the door, there sat the frog. She slammed the door closed and sat down to dinner again, but she was quite frightened. “My child, what are you so afraid of?” the king said. “Is there a giant outside who wants to carry you away?” “It is no giant, but a disgusting frog,” the princess replied. “What does the frog want with you?”
