秘密共園 作者簡介

弗蘭西斯·H·伯內(nèi)特，1849年生于英國市，1865年隨全家移民美國。伯內(nèi)特的父親早逝，家境貧寒，寫作成了她抒發(fā)情感、逃避現(xiàn)實(shí)的管道，也由于她在小說創(chuàng)作方面有著出色的表現(xiàn)，18歲起她便開始在雜志上發(fā)表故事，賺取稿費(fèi)貼補(bǔ)家用。她的第一本暢銷書是28歲時出版的《勞瑞家的那閨女》(That Lass O’Lowries)，取材于幼年她在英國煤礦的生活？墒，真正讓伯內(nèi)特聞名于世的是她的兒童文學(xué)作品。1886年她發(fā)表了小說《小爵士》，這部小說寫的是一個美國小男孩成為英國伯爵繼承人的故事！胺教亓_伊”從此成為英語詞匯，指“過分盛裝打扮的小孩”。這本書讓伯內(nèi)特成為當(dāng)時最暢銷、最富有的流行作家之一。此書和1905年發(fā)表的《小公主》都曾被改編成話劇。1939年，電影《秘密花園（小孤女）》和《小公主》由當(dāng)時紅極一時的童星(Sherley Temper)主演。 伯內(nèi)特從小喜歡植物，離婚后投入園藝。她在英國的住所周圍有幾個帶圍墻的花園，其中一個是她的戶外書房，每天在花園里寫作。1909年，當(dāng)她在紐約長島布置自己家花園的時候，突發(fā)靈感，構(gòu)思出《秘密花園》。這本小說初版于1911年，在她的兩個國家——英國和美國都暢銷，并且成為她最著名、最成功的作品。她的兒童文學(xué)作品使她在世時收入豐厚，是享有盛名的小說家和劇作家。
